About Jay

Jay Parrack choir director singing teacherJay Parrack is an accomplished singer songwriter who has performed in prestigious venues such as the Science Museum and Earls Court. Her powerfully emotive singing and writing styles find their roots in French cafe music, Latin, blues, folk, trad jazz and more contemporary styles. Best known as a solo artist, Jay also plays in several bands and runs the ever popular Farnham Voices Community Choir and Verwood Voices Community Choir. In addition, Jay regularly leads specialist singer’s weekends for the Folk Camps Society.

Coming from a musical family, Jay’s most significant musical influences in early life were her parents; her dad played boogie piano and her mum is a professionally trained classical singer. After performing in her teens, Jay left the world of music for a while to become a wife and mum. Throughout this time, she stored up passions and life experience which gave her a lot to write about when she came back to music a few years later.

Combined with her enthusiasm for getting people involved in singing, learning more about her voice through ABRSM singing exams led Jay to start teaching people to sing. She has further developed her knowledge of vocal techniques and the anatomy of the voice throughout her 15 year teaching career, including studying the Estill model.

Jay lives in Verwood, near Ringwood in Dorset, where she teaches singing and guitar lessons from her home.
